On June 25, 2009, Jackson collapsed at a rented home in Holmby Hills in Los Angeles. Attempts at resuscitating him by his personal physician were unsuccessful.
Resuscitation efforts continued both en route to the UCLA Medical Center, and for an hour further after arriving at approximately 1:14 pm (20:14 UTC). He was noted to have already been in cardiac arrest by the paramedics who attended his house. Jackson was announced dead at about 2:26 pm local time (21:26 UTC). Many news organizations were generally very cautious about the initial reports of his death.
Media and a crowd outside the UCLA Medical Center following his death
The cause of death has not yet been determined. The case was transferred to the Los Angeles County Coroner for investigation. There has been speculation that Michael Jackson committed suicide, was murdered, accidentily overdosed on painkiller medication, or just suffered a tragic cardiac arrest from stress/illness.
The autopsy was scheduled for Friday, June 26, 2009. A final verdict on Michael Jackson’s autopsy will only be possible after the toxicology test results are confirmed.
In the hours following Jackson’s death, his record sales increased dramatically. His album Thriller climbed to number one on the American iTunes music chart, while another eight have made it into the top 40. In the UK, where Jackson would have performed in less than three weeks, his albums occupied 14 of the top 20 places on the Amazon.co.uk sales chart with Off The Wall topping the chart. Nine of his albums were featured on the American iTunes Top 10 chart, including Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, and 3 compilations. In the UK iTunes store on June 26, thirty-nine of Jackson’s songs were in the Top 100 best selling songs list, in addition to four Jackson 5 songs. Eight of his albums took over the top ten downloaded albums and the top 5 video downloads were all Michael Jackson videos. Along with this he also entered into the top top ten single downloads with “Man in the Mirror”.
Less than four months before Jackson’s death one of his biographers, Ian Halperin, revealed that Jackson had a secret library of over 100 unreleased songs which he planned to release after his death to support his children.
RIP Michael Jackson, a tragic loss of a genius.

Still looking for tickets for the Michael Jackson show 2009? Is eBay too expensive and too risky? I have a pair (2) of tickets to see Michael Jackson on his last night at the O2 on the 24th February 2010. [Block 103]
Not the best tickets in the world, but still, tickets are tickets. Right?

Apple has announced plans to release a preview of the iPhone OS 3.0 at a special event on 17 March, prompting rumours at what will be included in the next release.
This major release sees the free iPhone firmware rebadged as an OS (Operating System), leading to speculation that there may be much more to this release than what we are used to from the iPhone – and possibly even seeing a change in focus for the iPhone to rival Google’s Android phone.
The announcement from Apple comes just days after Google announced Cupcake for the Android so is likely to be an atttempt to stay ahead of the competition.
No details of the new free iPhone software have been released, but analysts expect the code to include support for video, turn-by-turn directions and possibly support for Flash and the anticipated MMS.
Other things we would love to see in the release are:
Tethered modem support. We currently rely on a separate dongle (with a separate O2 account) for reliable wireless Internet on the road. We’d prefer if Apple would adopt the NDIS APIs for tethered support, as this would make the iPhone compatible with the built-in software in Windows, instead of requiring another app or iTunes for wireless data.
Apple also needs to fix the problem with applications running simultaneously. The iPhone currently only runs one app at a time. Apple had previously promised some sort of background notification system. This would help apps like instant messaging clients, Facebook and other social networking apps to notify users of incoming messages or status changes. This was a promise Apple made when the last iPhone OS was released, and it’s time the promise was kept.
Widgets. We all love widgets, especially us bloggers. So lets have some widgets on the iPhone and see what these developers can really do.
Finally, I’m predicting iPhone OS 3.0 will have alot of hidden extras in it, ready to be brought to life once it is installed on the next generation iPhone 3G, due to be announced later this year. I will be getting myself a free iPhone as soon as that is released. You should sign up too - http://www.freeiphone4me.co.uk
Michael Jackson has announced a further 40, yes 40, dates to his 10 date UK tour. That brings the total to 50 nights!!
After the sham of getting pre-sale tickets (yeah, thanks Ticketmaster…) it seems that most of the tickets released went to touts and companies, and are now being sold for up to £3000 on eBay and dodgy ticket sites.
But now, thanks to the additional dates, ticketmaster will be releasing a whole load more of the pre-sale tickets to those who have already registered but were unsuccessful the first time. 02 customers should still be able to get priority tickets by sending a text message to 02 for their mobile. If you aren’t an 02 customer, get a free iPhone and you will be.
Sign up for your free iPhone – no contract is required.
I haven’t received my Michael Jackson pre-sale tickets code yet, but I’m hoping I do as I think this will be a great event to attend, maybe even historic.
If you miss out again, tickets will be on general sale from Friday 13th.

Apple have just released the 3rd generation iPod Shuffle…and it really is tiny.
The new iPod shuffle, the smallest ever, gets around that annoyance with previous versions that meant you had no idea what track was coming next, and no ability to browse the playlist.
This iPod talks to you. With the press of a button, it tells you what song is playing and who’s performing it. It can even tell you the names of your playlists, giving you a new way to navigate your music
Not only is this new iPod Shuffle really small, it is also really big with a 4GB memory allowing you to store up to 1000 songs, and multiple songlists.
So just how small is it?
45.2 mm (1.8″) tall x 7.8 mm (0.3″) thin to be exact.
To create the world’s smallest music player, Apple have moved the controls from the iPod shuffle to the headphone cord. This allowed them to make the new iPod shuffle dramatically smaller, and also easier to use, with the controls located where you can access them quickly.
Oh, and yet another great new quirk is that the new iPod will actually tell you when the battery is low using the same speech technology it uses to tell you what track you are listening to!
At £58 it seems like an OK deal, but I’ll be getting a free iPod Shuffle for just 3 extra referrals when I get my next free iPhone.
Get yourself a free iPod Shuffle too.

Michael Jackson was due to make a “special announcement” in London this afternoon, but has had his thunder stolen after posters were put up throughout the underground revealing he will play 10 concerts at the 02 arena this July.
Despite the posters’ appearance, the singer is still expected at the 02 arena later this afternoon to address an already-waiting press swarm.
The revealed 10-night run is shorter than anticipated, but will be a relief to some fans who wondered if the fallen superstar could fill the 20,000-capacity arena night-after-night.

Apple has announced an agreement with four major music labels – Universal, Sony BMG, Warner and EMI – that will finally see digital rights management (DRM) be phased out of the iTunes music store.
iTunes, the single largest music retailer in the US, is one of the last-remaining big-name adopters of DRM – a system designed to prevent customers from sharing purchased music with others. By alleviating such restrictions, music purchased from Apple’s iTunes is now available for use on any device and not just iPods and iPhones.
However, in a possible attempt to convince record labels that DRM-free is the way forward, Apple has for the first time introduced a tiered pricing structure. In the past, each iTunes song was sold at a cost of 79p. As of today, tracks will be available at a cost of 59p, 79p, or 99p – a three-tier structure allowing record labels to presumably charge a premium for new releases. Full albums, however, will remain priced at £7.99.

Despite the promising widespread adoption of DRM-free music from the likes of Amazon MP3 and Play.com, Apple’s transition isn’t without faults. Users with existing DRM-protected music will be charged 20p per track to remove any existing restrictions. Furthermore, iTunes’ music will continue to be offered in 256kbps AAC – a format that isn’t as widely compatible as the common MP3.
Apple states that its iTunes Store will begin offering eight million of its 10 million songs in a DRM-free format as of today, and the remaining two million songs will be DRM-free by the end of March.
Is this really it? Or has someone been playing with photoshop? These latest images appear to fit the scale of the iphone nano cases already on sale (see below) but I would expect some kind of design change from apple. The iPod looks very different to the iPod nano so why would we expect the iPhone and the iPhone nano to be exactly the same?
Hmmmm, I’m thinking this iPhone nano picture is a mock-up and a fake. But please, apple, prove me wrong. Cos I want one!

If this is real, I’ll be geting myself a free iPhone Nano !
Will Apple really do it?
Whether it will be called the iPhone Nano or just the iPhone (3rd Generation) is irrelative at the moment. The rumor has been fuelled by a report by website iDeal China, which has claimed it was sent images of a silicone case for the unnamed tiny iPhone-esque design by a third party.
iPhone and iPhone Nano: case for the defence?iDeal said that its source managed to get hold of the iPhone Nano case designs thanks to Apple’s willingness to provide accessory manufacturers with phone designs prior to launch. This would make sense, as it enables these folk to launch add-ons on the same day devices are launched.
It’s worth noting that iDeal does have a record of accurately forecasting iPhone designs. For example, the site dug up correct information about the iPhone 3G’s styling several months before the phone was announced.
Earlier this month, iDeal claimed that the iPhone Nano will be the same height as the new iPod Nano – 91mm to the iPhone’s 115mm – but slightly wider and thicker. Other ‘leaked’ features include a camera but no 3G.
It’s thought production of the iPhone Nano could start later this month.
Might get a bit fiddly typing on a nano touchscreen though, and the lack of 3G would be a disappointment.
Whatever kind of iPhone you want (ok, so you can only get 1 kind at the moment), why not grab yourself a free iPhone from this site http://www.freeiphone4me.co.uk
